Travel Tips for Hayden (Steamboat Springs), CO:

Mike Summers - 2010:
The Hayden/Yampa Valley Airport is about 22 miles west of Steamboat Springs. Here's some websites:
http://www.ifly.com/yampa-valley-airport
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yampa_Valley_Airport
. The only car rental counters at the airport are Avis, Hertz and Budget, and I found this website that helps people get set-up with rental companies (Website:
http://haydenairportcarrental.com/
). There is no public bus service to/from the airport. The main attraction is, of course, the ski area, but there are other attractions that you can enjoy during the summer and other times of the year like hiking at Fish Creek Falls or horseback riding at Saddleback Ranch (attractions websites:
http://www.allsteamboat.com/attractions/
and
http://www.frommers.com/destinations/steamboatsprings/1461_indattr.html
). There are many good places to eat. Mahogany Ridge Brewery and Grill is one (Website:
http://mahoganyridgesteamboat.com/#Home
). The Boathouse in downtown Steamboat Springs is also good (Website:
http://boathousesteamboat.com/
). If you don't want to head east to Steamboat, you can drive a little over two hours west on US 40 to Dinosaur National Monument (Websites:
http://www.nps.gov/dino/index.htm
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_Park_Dam_controversy#Echo_Park_Dam_controversy
) where you can see many preserved dinosaur fossils.
